HOW WE GOT HERE
Kimball Area Public Schools worked closely with area residents to develop a plan to address the most critical needs at both school buildings.
In 2019, the district surveyed residents to help develop a plan for investments in our 60-year-old high school and 30-year-old elementary school.
The top priorities identified by residents were safety/security improvements, new science labs and FACS classrooms, heating, ventilation and cooling (HVAC) systems updates, and early childhood classroom renovations. The survey received 490 total responses.
In addition, the district received important feedback through stakeholder meetings with district staff, agricultural landowners, and community leaders.
The district is off to a good start to ensure that our buildings meet today’s safety and educational standards.
In 2021, the district improved the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems at both schools to improve indoor air quality.
Due to a highly competitive bid market during the pandemic, the indoor air quality project came in $2 million under budget.
Now, voters have approved a plan to address the other priorities identified by residents, including safety and security, science and FACS improvements, and an addition for early childhood.
